{"id":180,"date":"2013-01-27T08:26:12","date_gmt":"2013-01-27T08:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/capitalfunds.am\/?p=180"},"modified":"2013-02-25T13:22:06","modified_gmt":"2013-02-25T13:22:06","slug":"news-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/capitalfunds.am\/en\/news-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Pension Conference Wraps Up Results Of The USAID Pension Reform Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #dcb15a;\"><strong>USAID <\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><strong>\u00a0(14.09.12)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #dcb15a;\">Pension Conference Wraps Up Results Of The USAID Pension Reform Project<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The USAID-funded Pension and Labor Market Reform (PALM) project summed up its three-year activity and shared the recent progress of Armenia\u2019s pension reform during the \u201cDecent Work and Adequate Pensions\u201d conference, held on September 14 in Yerevan.\u00a0 Minister of Labor and Social Issues Artem Asatryan, Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielyan, State Revenue Committee Chairman Gagik Khachatryan, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, and USAID Armenia Mission Director Karen Hilliard attended the event. Participants also included representatives of the Central Bank of Armenia, the National Assembly, as well as local and international organizations involved in the pension reform.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"image002\" src=\"http:\/\/www.plm.am\/images\/stories\/images\/image002.jpg\" width=\"160\" height=\"107\" \/>PALM project has been USAIDs\u2019 primary activity aimed to support Armenia\u2019s pension reform implementation, strengthen the retirement income system, and enhance the competitiveness of the labor market.\u00a0 Between 2009-2012, PALM assisted the Government of Armenia, individuals, households, and vulnerable communities\u00a0 to better manage social risks, such as old age, disability, and unemployment. The project provided technical assistance to the Armenian government to build the foundation for the multi-pillar pension system that will come into force in January 2014. The new pension system will provide each citizen of Armenia with a possibility to improve their financial security\u00a0 in old age through diversifying the sources of income, including making retirement savings in a private pension fund \u2013 a concept that is new to Armenia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through PALM, USAID helped the Government of Armenia introduce active labor market programs like job clubs and employer councils.
